Frequently Asked Questions

What protocols does TouchDMX support?

TouchDMX natively supports Art-Net and DMX512. This ensures broad compatibility with professional lighting hardware and software across the industry.

Can I use TouchDMX with my existing lighting console?

Yes. TouchDMX operates alongside your existing console, accepting any DMX output it produces. Simply connect via Art-Net or DMX512 and begin recording.

How many fixtures can TouchDMX control?

This depends on your license tier and the channel count of your fixtures. Each DMX universe provides 512 channels. The Starter license (2 Art-Net universes) supports up to 1,024 Art-Net channels plus 512 via DMX512. The Professional tier (8 universes) extends this to 4,096 Art-Net channels, and the Enterprise tier (32 universes) provides up to 16,384 Art-Net channels — all with 1 × DMX512 output included across every tier.

Does TouchDMX work on Mac or Linux?

TouchDMX is currently Windows-only. Cross-platform support is being evaluated for future releases. Join our mailing list to be notified of any updates.

What DMX hardware interfaces are supported?

TouchDMX supports Art-Net via any standard network interface, and DMX512 output via the Enttec DMX USB Pro.
